Summary

People from ethnic minority groups have poor experiences and outcomes of care in other healthcare settings but little is known about presentation, management and outcomes of emergency care for patients with injuries among people from ethnic minority groups. This study investigates disparities in demographics, casemix, processes, experiences and outcomes of care between people in ethnic minorities and White British people when they present to emergency ambulance service or Emergency Department (ED) with injuries.

How could this research potentially benefit patients?

Results will be shared with Ambulance and ED services, relevant government bodies and study participants as well as through scientific conference proceedings and publications to support ambulance services, EDs and emergency care policy makers to improve care and outcomes for ethnic minority people who experience injuries.
